Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany - The Partnership for Peace Consortium (PfPC) is pleased to announce the release of NATO’s Resilience Reference Curriculum, a comprehensive framework designed to enhance education and training on resilience within the defense and security sectors. Developed in collaboration with NATO, and assembled by leading experts and institutions, this curriculum serves as a vital resource for military and civilian professionals engaged in building national and collective resilience.
The Resilience Reference Curriculum provides an in-depth exploration of resilience in the context of modern security challenges, addressing themes such as whole-of-government and whole-of-society approaches, civil-military cooperation, and strategies for developing, implementing, and assessing resilience. It is intended for use by professional military education institutions, government agencies, and other organizations seeking to strengthen resilience at individual, community, national, and multinational levels.
A key feature of the curriculum is its modular structure, which allows educators and trainers to adapt the material to different audiences and operational environments. Through case studies, vignettes, and theoretical frameworks, the curriculum equips learners with the knowledge and tools needed to anticipate, manage, and recover from crises. This initiative aligns with NATO’s strategic commitment to resilience as a cornerstone of deterrence and defense, emphasizing the importance of preparedness across all sectors of society.
As a long-standing partner in defense education, the PfPC plays a crucial role in supporting the dissemination and implementation of this curriculum among NATO allies and partners. By fostering a shared understanding of resilience, the PfPC contributes to strengthening collective security and ensuring the ability of societies to withstand and adapt to emerging threats.
The Resilience Reference Curriculum is now available for download on the NATO website at https://www.nato.int/cps/en/natohq/topics_233455.htm. We encourage institutions and educators to integrate this essential resource into their training and education programs, reinforcing resilience as a fundamental element of modern defense strategy.
