The Partnership for Peace Consortium’s Combating Terrorism Working Group leads the North Africa Regional Tabletop Exercise

Gdynia, Poland, July 18 2019. Between 15-17 July, the Partnership for Peace Consortium’s Combating Terrorism Working Group, led by its Co-Chairs, Dr. Sajjan M. Gohel and Dr. Peter Forster, conducted a Table-Top Exercise (TTX) at the Polish Naval Academy in Gdynia, involving a terrorist-related scenario based on current and potential threats in North Africa and the Sahel.

The TTX was aimed at identifying gaps in current CT strategies and action plans, providing recommendations to address these identified gaps, and disseminating best practices among CT professionals from Europe, North America, North Africa, and Asia.

The attendees represented military, law enforcement, academia, and civil society. Participants identified approaches to enhance border security, information sharing, interagency collaboration, and interoperability. Further areas of collaboration included institutional capacity building, Professional Military Education as well as international cooperation, and an overall comprehensive defense approach to counterterrorism.
